Hi Everyone,

As we approach the end of term one it makes me realise how quickly this term has past. Yet, during this term the Foundation students have made many little progresses each day. They are getting better at their daily routines and transitions between times/sessions. In Literacy, our focus has been letter formation and learning that print has a purpose for an audience. In Math, we've learnt to count collections, write numbers and learnt about shapes having curved or straight sides. In term one Integrated Studies has been all about history- family life.

The Foundation students have now completed topic based assessments for this term.

Once again, the M100 Words are a great tool for children to begin reading. It would be very beneficial for your child if you could include this in the nightly homework routine. And, remember to write a comment for home reading as a positive reinforcement into your child's effort to 'read'.

A big thank you to all the parents who have taken the time to complete/return the School Nurse parent questionnaire forms. Rosie will visit our school during term two for these screening assessments. I am waiting on a couple of forms to be returned please.

Breakfast is an important meal of the day, please ensure your child has something to eat/ drink before school to ensure they are sustained until recess time (11am).

Finally, please continue to support your child in becoming more independent by encouraging them to do little jobs at home and also to get organised for school at home. In the morning I would also like students to now begin to put away their bags and get organised for the day. Please refrain from coming into the room each day to put your child's bag into the lockers. Parents should say goodbye from the door and allow the children to put their own bags away. Of course I will remind students when items are due. Children are very capable, we just need to encourage and guide them.

Regards,
Ms. K.
